Dumb also handles production of the online comedy shows The Mads Are Back, The Dave Hill Goodtime Hour, and The Mary Jo Pehl Show. “It was only a matter of time before a company named ‘Dumb Industries’ broke into the field of education.”Ĭhris Gersbeck, founder of Dumb Industries and producer of various online events for MST3K alums such as Trace Beaulieu, Frank Conniff, and Mary Jo Pehl, was tapped by Jones to produce the online classes, a first for his New York City-based production company. I even named my kitty, Mstie after them.” “They watch over each other like family and I am part of that family. “Since Mystery Science Theater 3000 unearthed MANOS, I knew I had found my kind of people,” says Jackey about the MSTie community. Her active online presence and popular Etsy shop, which offers custom-made robes identical to the one worn by “The Master” in MANOS, solidifies her as the perfect instructor for a Mystery Science Theater 3000-themed online class. One of the few surviving cast members of MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE, Jones has been embraced by the MSTie community through numerous appearances at conventions and other fan events, often speaking candidly (and hilariously) about the making of MANOS. It has since often been cited as one of the greatest episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The film was later discovered decades later by comedian Frank Conniff, a writer on MST3K, who was responsible for bringing awareness to the film. MANOS was only screened once at its premiere in El Paso, Texas in 1966, and was almost instantly ridiculed due to its poor quality. It wasn’t until MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE, long considered to be lost, appeared on a 1993 episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 that Jones became aware that a copy of the film even existed. “Since Mystery Science Theater 3000 unearthed MANOS, I knew I had found my kind of people.” Jones, a successful designer and painter based out of Falls City, Oregon, has the distinct honor of playing “Debbie,” the child star of MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE, a 1966 horror film often referred to as “The Worst Movie Ever Made.” She has chronicled the making of the film in her book, Growing Up With Manos: The Hands of Fate: How I Was the Child Star of the Worst Movie Ever Made and Lived to Tell the Story, and even returned to the role of “Debbie” in MANOS RETURNS, a sequel to the original film, in 2018. “My classes are a fun and relaxing step-by-step painting instruction where we’ll express our unique interpretation amongst friends.” In front of each clue we have added its number and position on the crossword puzzle for easier navigation.“All levels of skill are welcome,” Jackey says.
